Wow, your first (official) week here in Mannheim is already over! You’ve probably met lots of new people, maybe made some friends by now, had your first lectures at the Uni Mannheim and joined some ESN VISUM Mannheim events!
Before we present you what we’ve been planning for the upcoming week, I’d like to give you some general information about the current situation, some helpful tips but also a kind request.
Quick info:
1) Hygiene Regulations
As an initiative of the University of Mannheim we, ESN VISUM, have to stick to certain hygiene regulations because of the Corona Virus. Right now, that is 2G+ for all our events: that means you have to be either
1. double vaccinated + boostered
2. double vaccinated + tested negative within 24h
3. double vaccinated (last vaccination is no longer than 3 month ago)
2) E-Cum (aka your student ID)
With your E-cum you don’t only verify that you’re a student of the Uni Mannheim but you can travel in a specific area and eat with it in the mensa.
Travel:
you can travel for free on weekdays (Monday-Friday) starting at 7pm – 5am and on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) all day long!
All you have to do is get your stamp on the E-cum for free. You can do that at the SB-terminals here:
- A 5, 6 Bauteil A im Foyer
- A 3 in der Bibliothek
- Ehrenhof West im Kopierraum der Bibliothek
- L 7, 3, im Foyer im Erdgeschoss
- Mensa am Schloss (Nähe Infothek)
- Schneckenhof Süd im Foyer BWL-Bibliothek (Nähe InfoCenter)
- Schneckenhof-Foyer (Nähe Campus Shop)
- Westflügel im Ausleihzentrum der Bibliothek
- L 1, 1 Express-Service
Lunch in Mensa
You have to put money on your E-cum at one of the SB-Terminals or directly in the “office” of the mensa (go through the main entrance, then it’s on the left). Afterwards, you can eat there and pay with the E-cum. When there’s no more money on it you can either “refill” at the cash point directly (they’ll ask if you want to put money on there again), the SB-Terminal or the mensa office.
3) Events and cancellation
As the first week is over and we’ve gotten an impression about the events we would like to share and request something. Until we get another info, we have to have limited spots only for the events. It is either because of the regulations or the capacity of space/people (of our partner’s).
Please note, that due to that we must make lists where you have to register so we can keep a good overview and stick to the rules. As there are only limited spots (at least for now), not everybody who wants to join gets a chance. And at last week’s events we received a lot of last-minute cancellations.
So, we would kindly ask you: If you register for an event, we’d love to see you there! Please be fair and let other people have the spot if you sign up “just in case”.
Don’t worry, we don’t want to force you to go there at all costs, if there’s really something important coming up last minute or you get sick. We get that and it’s totally okay. But if possible, please cancel 1 day before the event, so somebody else can join.

VISUM International Running Dinner
1 night, 3 dishes and a lot of fun!
You would like to get to know people from all over the world?
You like to try international food? Then take part in the VISUM International Running Dinner!
Deadline: Friday, February 25th, 23:59
When? Wednesday, March 9th, 7pm
Where? All over Mannheim
This is how it works: Get together with your buddy or find a partner you would like to cook with and register for the Running Dinner before the deadline! We'll tell you which course (starter, main dish or dessert) you will be preparing. On Wednesday two weeks after, you will have a delicious three course menu. Each course will take place at a different location where you get to meet four NEW people!! (So you will have each course with new and totally awesome people)

Wow, die erste (offizielle) Woche an der Uni Mannheim ist schon vorbei! Doch bevor wir in die nächste ESN VISUM Woche starten, vorab noch ein paar Infos:
Allgemein:
1) Hygiene Maßnahmen
Als Initiative der Universität Mannheim müssen wir, ESN VISUM, uns an bestimmt Corona Hygiene Maßnahmen halten. Bis jetzt bedeutet das, dass 2G+ für alle unsere events gilt: das bedeutet, dass du entweder
1. zweifach geimpft + boostered
2. zweifach geimpft + negativer Test innerhalb von 24h
3. zweifach geimpft (letzte Impfung nicht länger als 3 Monate her)
2) E-Cum (aka dein Studenten ID)
Mit deiner E-cum bestätigst du nicht nur, dass du ein Student an der Uni Mannheim bist, sondern kannst du auch damit in eine bestimmte Region reisen und in der Mensa essen.
Reisen:
Du kannst unter der Woche (Montag-Freitag) ab 19 Uhr – 05 Uhr reisen und an den Wochenenden (Samstag und Sonntag) den ganzen Tag – und zwar umsonst!
Alles was du tun must, ist deine E-cum umsonst stempeln lassen. Das kannst du an den SB-Terminals machen:

Mittagessen in der Mensa
Du musst einfach Geld auf deine E-cum an einem der SB-Terminals oder direkt im Büro in der Mensa (durch den Haupteingang und dann links) laden. Danach kannst du einfach dort essen und mit deiner E-cum bezahlen. Sobald kein Geld mehr auf der E-cum ist, kannst du es entweder direct an der Kasse wieder aufladen oder an einem der SB-Terminals oder in dem Mensa Büro.
3) Events und Absagen
Nachdem die erste Woche vorbei ist und wir schon einige Eindrücke bzgl. der Events bekommen haben, wollen wir gerne etwas mitteilen, aber auch um etwas bitten. Bis wir eine andere Info bekommen, gibt es bei uns begrenzte Plätze für die Events. Dies ist entweder wegen den Maßnahmen/Vorschriften oder auch wegen den Kapazitäten unserer Partner.
Bitte beachtet, dass wir aufgrund davon Listen führen müssen, damit wir uns ordnungsgemäß an die Regeln halten und auch einen guten Überblick haben können. Nachdem ja nur begrenzte Teilnehmerzahlen möglich sind (zumindest bis jetzt), hat nicht jeder die Möglichkeit teilzunehmen. Und letzte Woche haben wir einige Absagen nur kurz vor den Events bekommen.
Deshalb wollen wir euch darum beten: Wenn du dich für ein event anmeldest, würden wir dich auch gerne dort sehen! Bitte sei so fair den anderen gegenüber und melde dich nicht nur „mal so“ an.
Keine Sorge, wir wollen euch nicht zwingen, um jeden Preis zu erscheinen, wie z.B. wenn noch was wichtiges aufkommt oder ihr krank werdet. Wir können das echt nachvollziehen und das ist voll in Ordnung! Aber wenn es möglich ist, sagt bitte bis spätestens 1 Tag vor dem Event ab, damit jemand anderes teilnehmen kann.

Und so funktioniert's: Ihr schnappt euch euren Buddy oder einen anderen Partner, mit dem ihr zusammen kochen wollt und meldet euch vor der Deadline an. Per Email erfahrt ihr, ob ihr die Vorspeise, Hauptspeise oder den Nachtisch zusammen kocht. Am Mittwoch, zwei Wochen danach, werdet ihr dann in den Genuss eines 3-Gänge-Menüs kommen. Bei jedem Gang wird die Location gewechselt und ihr trefft auf neue Teilnehmer.
